Lazy Day

Today I was pretty lazy. I checked out some blogs, did a little household shopping, did laundry and did some sewing (on a dress that was supposed to be for summer, but I am slow). Here's what I wore. I'm still loving my new boots from Little Burgundy (see post below).

Dress: Gap (It's new, I got it yesterday while I was at the mall)
Sandals: Feet First
Headband: Ardene's
Necklace: Vintage (it belonged to my grandmother)
Bag: Buffalo

Little Burgundy Shop Opening

Tonight I had the oppurtunity to attend the pre-opening of the Little Bungundy shop in Market Mall. And I have to say, I was really impressed! Little Bungundy started a little over a year ago and this is the first location in my area.

The store specializes in casual, sneaker-type shoes, but recently added more fancy styles

They carry tons of brands (I believe I was told they carry about sixty) including Nike, Puma, Michael Michael Kors, Blowfish, Keds, Converse, Ed Hardy, Rocket Dog and Fornarina.

It was really fun to be able to get to check out the store before it's actual opening. People kept looking in from the mall and trying to come in (but they weren't allowed). It made me feel fancy and important!

They also carry some accessories, like Kitson, Juicy and Betseyville jewelry, as well as a bunch of bags. I fell madly in love with the Hello Kitty items!

Also, here I am channeling Karl Lagerfeld. I'm such a nut.

The best part was that I was given a voucher for one free item! Anything I wanted! It was overwhelming at first, but really fun to shop without looking at any price tags or anything.

I tossed and turned between a few great pieces, but thought it would be sensible to buy boots for winter (I usually don't think this far ahead!). They had some cute pairs, especially some grey Blowfish boots I almost bought, but in the end I choose these great black leather Shelly's. I am so looking forward to wearing them all through fall and winter! I also loved this Steve Madden bag, but thought I needed the boots more!

Also, this is what I wore to the event. The pants worn under the dress are new and were bought 90% off at Buffalo. I'm not good at posing for photos, so here I am being silly!

Dress: H&M
Jeans (worn as leggings): Buffalo David Bitton
Shoes: Aldo

Moschino Cheap and Chic

I'm a huge fan of Moschino Cheap and Chic (if only it was actually cheap!), so I totally fell in love with these photographs. I love the bright colours, as well as the menswear-inspired looks. Basically, I love Moschino! (Photos from gosee.us).

I'm in love with... Ruffian bodysuit

I am completely in love with this body suit from Ruffian's fall collection. It goes with everything and looks totally amazing! If it were in my closet, I would probably wear it five days a week: as tights under skirts or, my favourite possibility, under a dress so the great pattern could be seen on arms, legs and chest. What do you think? (Photos from ruffian.com).

Fashion Film and Blog Award

I'm terribly fond of fashion films and this one starring Erin Featherston is no exception. It's a fashionable re-telling of the Pied Piper and I was immediately drawn to the dark heart of the story, along with the great clothes. It's nice to get to see the clothes in motion, rather than in a still photograph. What do you think? (Video from style.com)

Also, the lovely Cara Mia from Future Hippie and Hippie Couture gave me a blog award, so thank you very much to get for the honour! Check out her blogs. They're really pretty and have lots of bright colours (which I love)!

Anja Frers for MADAME

I'm back from a real life break and I wanted to show you these gorgeous editorial photographs by Anja Frers for MADAME. I love the moodiness of these shots and also to use of purple! The purple coat is so cute! (Photos from gosee.us)

Also, I've been invited to a store pre-opening Thursday night, which I am super excited about! Check back late Thursday or Friday for my thoughts on Little Burgundy.

Plaid for Fall

As it was cold and rainy today, I got started thinking about fall fashion and I realized that every autumn I fall back in love with plaid. In the hot, heady days of summer, I abandon plaid in favour of stripes, solids and polka dots. But once it starts to get colder, plaid jumps back to my mind.

As I was thinking about my fall wardrobe, I realized that I only have one plaid piece, the United Colors of Bennetton skirt I worn here. I think I need some more! Here's a Polyvore set to get you in the mood.

Woodstock Revisited

A number of designers drew up some gorgeous sketches inspired by Woodstock and it's 40th anniversary. I really wish I could draw that beautifully. Oh well, I try! These sketches are my favourites and were done by the following: Bensoni, Charlotte Ronson and Richard Chai. (Pictures from wwd.com).

From Copenhagen With Love

Sorry for the cheesy title but, well, I liked it. Here are some highlights from another amazing collection from Copenhagen Fashion Week: By Malene Birger. I really loved the pretty, floaty feminity mixed with a dose of sequins and lots of amazing stripes. Totally beautiful. (Photos from copenhagenfashionweek.com).

Also, in three hours the chickdowntown giveaway will be closed. I'm super excited to see who wins!

The Prettiest Stripes in my Closet

Last Sunday while I was waiting to pick up the bf, I stopped by a flea market to possibly meet my mom (did work out), but as I had no cash, I walked to the nearby trendy shopping area of Kensington to look for a bank. Unfortunately, Kensington Road is home to my favourite store in the city, Purr. Even just walking by (which I'm usually not able to do) cheers me up. The colours are so bright and the clothes are so pretty and just my style. I couldn't help but step inside when I noticed the sale sign in the window (they're everywhere, but I have no money!). The sale turned out to be a really great one and I hauled a load of clothes into the dressing room. Four made my list of "buyable," but as I don't have a lot of money at the moment, I decided to limit myself to one item. And this adorabled striped dress was the winner!

I love the bright summery colours (I'm still living in a summery wonderland and dreading the coming of fall. It gets really cold here!) and the stripes are definately the prettiest in my closet. And the pockets are just so cute. I really, truly am in love. Sorry for the quality of the photo, as I mentioned before, my camera is on it's last legs and hardly works.

Dress: Vero Moda; Sandals: Feet First.

Also, if you are in the US and have not yet entered Pudding and Pie and chickdowntown.com's BB Dakota giveaway, tomarrow is your last day!

Too Early to Think About Spring?

One thing that's always messed with my head a little is the timings of runway shows. Case-in-point, the Spring 2010 shows that have already happened at Copenhagen Fashion Week. I understand that it's done this way for the sake of fashion buyers etc., but for a lowly fashion blogger, I feel a little strange thinking about next spring when it's only August.

That said, I always get excited about new runway shots and I fell madly in love with the ones of Elise Gug's collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week. The looks are so feminine, classic and elegant. They would fit flawlessly into my wardrobe! What are your thoughts on these pieces? (Photos from copenhagenfashionweek.com).

Best Dressed on July 2009

The competition was tight last month, but only five lady can be chosen as the best dressed of July 2009. Some are old favourites, while a couple of lady have made thier best dressed debut. And here they are.

1. Emma Watson - Anybody who knows my fashion icons knows that Emma Watson is one of them. She always looks lovely and with the premiere of Harry Potter 6, she had lots of oppurtunity to show off her great style. She looks lovely in both these shots. I'm so in love with the polka dot dress.

2. Michelle Trachtenberg - This girl has got amazing style; she can definately blazers like nobody's business. I also love how she paired a great dress with amazing bright shoes. One of my style icons.

3. Miranda Kerr - There's no way around it, this girl's got style. She always manages to look so amazing and I don't know if I've ever seen her in an outfit I didn't like.

4. Amanda Crew - I have to admit that before I started working on this list, I hadn't heard of Amanda Crew, nor seen any of the films or television shows she has been on. Regardless, she is making her best dressed debut because I love her style. She looks adorable in both of these looks and definately deserves her places on the best dressed list.

5. Scarlett Johansson - I think she is one of the most beautiful actresses working today and this month, she had beautfiul style to match. Scarlett makes her best dressed debut with a couple of great looks that emphasize her hour-glass figure. I love the bright colours and the contrast of black and white she shows.

It was a tough one of call this month and the list of honourable mentions is longer than usual. Honourable mentions: Ashley Tisdale, Audrina Patridge, Diane Kruger, Dita Von Teese, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton (I'm a bit surprised, but she had some lovely outfits for going to court) and Reese Withspoon. (Photos from style.com and celebritygossip.com)
