Talk about inspiration...

Deep down, I'm a complete girly-girl who loves ruffles and pink (even though green is still my favourite colour, but pink isn't far behind). So, as I was catching up on my spring/summer collections, I completely fell in love with the Versace Spring 08 line. The dresses are gorgeous and I honestly wish I could wear these dresses everyday (or ever)! Here's a few of my favourites. <3 (photos from Style.com)

And today I love...

Racheal Bilson! I love her boots and her dress is cute as well!

As well, I'm very fon of this Vivenne Weswood dress. The shape is amazing and it works very well in black.

Let me know what you think, whether you agree with my loves or not and what you are loving right now! <3

Today's Love: Alice + Olivia

Today I'm absolutely in love Alice and Olivia. Their dresses are gorgeous and the styles are very appealing. I love the trim on the hem of the bright-print white dress and the great coour of the yellow one. My absolute favorite though has got to be the grean dress. I love the top, the bottom, the wide, dark waistband, everything! Plus the set for the shots is pretty cool too.

Who doesn't love shoes?

What girl honestly doesn't love a gorgeous pair of shoes? So I checked out a few brands (or selections of the 89 brands on the Gravity Pope website) and here are a few of my favorites!

First of all, I love these colourful T-straps by Paul Smith. I'm a huge fan of bright colours, especially in spring, so for me, they are great. ($340 cdn)

Also extremely bright and wonderful are the flowered heels by Betsey Johnson. I love the brightness of the colours and they honestly just make me feel happy inside! ($200 cdn)

Continuing on the idea of brightly coloured shoes, I'm a hug fan of the Kenneth Cole Reaction "chip n dip" yellow heels ($ 110). I love the contrasting on these, as well as the bright colour.

As far as colour goes, I'm also into these Belle heels ($420). The colour is great and the style is not bad either.

I'm also going crazy for To & Co's bootie ($585)! I love the colour, love the little buttons. This from a girl who has been slow to warm up to the idea of boots in general, these are definately one of the better pairs I've seen.

Vialis's gisele design ($325) is great too. I like the contrasting colours and the design of the straps and the colour is nice too.

I also like the black ones from Irregular Choice. The whole concept and design of the shoe is great and I've always been a big fan of black and white.

Also in black and white were my favourite shoes that I found: the black and white campers. I love the design, the print, even the children on the front. When I get paid at the end of the month, a trip to Gravity Pope might definately be in order!

So, that's the shoes I loved this time around. Let me know what you think, agree or disagree, or let me know whose shoes I should check out next! <3

Fashion Rules From the BBC

Hey. Just before I start, let me say that I don't usually pay much attention to fashion "rules" since I think they're entirely too restrictive and then to prefer just to go with my instinct. So anyways, I was poking around on the website for the BBC version of "What Not to Wear" (The TLC version was one of my favorite shows when I had cable). Anyway, I stumbled across some rules and wanted to ask what everyone else thought. This is a direct quote from their website: "Combining black with bright colours makes the black look boring and the colours look cheap." Am I crazy and unfashionable for liking the contrast of black and brights? I mean, I know it can be done wrong, but then so can everything and they don't make fashion rules against everything. Please, tell me what you think. Are black and brights cheap looking together? I added some photos to give you an idea of what I'm talking about (and I like pictures, the one on the right is Miu Miu as well!).

Awesome Jewelry from Tarina Tarantino

I absolutely fell in love with this jewelry line, Tarina Tarantino, named after the designer (who, might I add, has the brightest pink hair I've ever seen). The designs are totally fun and are quirky without being tasteless. I've included some of my favorites, although I can't chose between the elephants (which also come in white) or the doll head earrings! I also love the cameo ring (and the fact that it comes in four colours, including hot pink), since it's old-fashioned with a excellent modern-ness about it. Lastly, I really like the "Queen Alice" items, including the pendant I've posted a picture of. As far as prices go, they range, with the elephant earrings being $55, the doll head earring and cameo ring being $75 and the "Queen Alice" pendant costing $105. The website is excellent, very fun and pink (http://www.tarinatarantino.com/) and has lots more designs to suit everybody.

As always, I love comments and emails, so let me know what you think! <3

Indiana Jones Premier

So, I'll be completely honesy with you, I'm a huge Indiana Jones fan and I am so excited to see the new movie! So, in an effort to conbine my two loves (the other being fashion, of course), I decided to provide you with my honest comments on the outfits worn to the Cannes premier.

Ok, so I think it's fair to start with the star. I certainly don't claim to know much about men's wear, but I think that Harrison Ford looks pretty good, although maybe a touch on the boring side. Maybe a coloured shirt under his jacket? I don't know. I still think he looks good (maybe it's just because I've thought he was the best thing ever since I saw him as Hans Solo when I was a kid). As for Calista Flockhart, Ihonestly like this dress (I wish the picture didn't cut off her feet). It's a pretty colour and the waistband doesn't make the dress look weird (which I find happens a lot). I'm not crazy about the purse, but I don't hate it. Overall, I like the look and the fact that she's with Harrison Ford definately gives her bonus points!

Ok, so on to the other people. First of all, Salma Hayek: I really can't say I even like the dress. For me, it's really bland, despite the accents, which I don't like (especially at the bottom, the straps are ok). The colour is alright, definately my favorite part of the gown and the cut is nothing special. Over all, I can only say that this look is "alright." (Photo is from BBC)

Next is Natalie Portman. She is a juror at Cannes and I have to say that I absolutely love this dress. I love the colour, love the style, love the straps, I love everything about it. It is definately my favorite look out of them all and I have absolutely no criticism (yay!). (Photo is from Huffington Post).

Next up is Cate Blanchett. I like the dress, I'm a big fan of ruffles if they are done right. The dress looks like it has an interesting texture and I would really like it if I could see it up close. As well, I'm still into grey/metallics from this winter, so the colour is good. The only problem I can really see is if it was worn by an everyday person. I think this dress could look awful if it was worn by a bigger woman, since I think the two colours on the hips makes them look wider (you can even start to see it on Cate, though I think she still looks great). (Photo from Huffington Post)

What can I say about Goldie Hawn? I actually am having trouble formulating an opinion on this one. Overall, I think I like the dress, although I can't say I like the bit on her arms (although it definately could have been a lot worse). White is great for spring, it looks very fresh. I also don't really like the idea of sunglasses on a red carpet, but overall, it's pretty good. (Photo from Yahoo Movies)

The next dress is worn by Paz Vega (I honestly haven't heard of her before, I guess she's big in Spain. She was also in Spanlish, which I haven't seen). I like the dress overall, I like the sheen and the colour (I've always been a fan of red and green, it sounds so Christmas-y). However, I don't like the poofy part on her bum. It looks weird and it probably looked even weirder after she sat through the movie. As well, if you look at a picture from the front, the poofiness goes around the sides, but isn't in the front, which makes her hips look wide and strange. Still, it certainly isn't boring or hideous, so I really shouldn't give the dress too hard of a time. (Photo from Yahoo Movies)

The next gown I want to talk about is worn by Elsa Pataky (I've actually never heard of her before either, but that's because she does Spanish films). This dress is the worst of the bunch that I've posted. I absolutely can't stand the detailing, it makes her bust look totally strange. The rest of the gown is alright, though I'm not crazy about the colour or the length. Really though, I can't stop staring at her chest (no, I'm not a perv) because of the weird shiny junk. Definately my least favorite. (Photo from Yahoo Movies)

The last dress I'll talk about is the one worn by Kelly Brook. I really, really like this dress, it's probably my second favorite, after Natelie Portman. It fits her perfectly, I love the colour, I love the style, I love the length. It (and she) is gorgeous and I again have no criticisms whatsoever. (Photo from BBC)

So, I know that there were more I could have done (including Racheal Leigh Cook's scarily pink dress), but I figured that I covered it fairly well. If you want more or have an event you'f like me to cover, let me know. And, as always, I'd love to hear from you, good or bad, so send me an email at puddingandpiefashion@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you. And, as an update, I'm also planning on going reviews of some of the shops in my area (Calgary, Canada), although that won't be until next week, since I have a midterm on Saturday I need to study for (yay for summer university!). If you have any shops in your area you want to share about, send me an email and I'll include post it up!

You Have to Start Somewhere

Hey! Welcome to my brand new fashion blog, Pudding and Pie! You can come here to check out the fashion that I love, hate, have no idea what they were thinking... Please feel free to leave comments or send me an email at puddingandpiefashion@gmail.com (trust me, along with green tea lattes and Keds, I'm addicted to checking my email, so it will make my day.

Since this is my very first post, I wasn't quite sure where to start, so I decided to start with talking about some of my favourite brands. One of my very favourites is definately Ella Moss. Designed by the amazing Pamella Protzel,, I absolutely adore the shapes and pretty spring colours!

These are two of my favorite dresses from her spring 08 collection. I think they both retail at $177.00. I only have one Ella Moss dress right now, but it's definately on my list of things to buy this season. You can learn more about Ella Moss at the website, www.ellamoss.com!So, that's the first post! Let me know what you think!! Suggestions, praise, (constructive) criticism, offers of help etc are always welcome!
