Couture

First of all, I want to thank janettaylor for giving me a lovely award!

There are some rules that go with it, so here they are:
1. Put the logo on your blog or post
2. Nominate at least 10 blogs (gah, ten is a lot!) that you think are fabulous
3. Link nominees within your post
4. Comment on the nominee's blog to let them know you think they are fabulous
5. Link back to the wonderful person who gave you the award

Ten is a big number, but here is a list of deserving blogs (sorry if you've already won it, but take is as confirmation that you are indeed wonderful!):
The Stiletto Effect
The House of Style
Fashion Daydreams
Couture Carrie
KiraFashion
Qin at the Disco
Philosophy of a Fashionista
What happens in Vegas...
Daisy Chain Dreams
Fashion Chalet

And on a completely different note, couture! As I've said before, couture shows are by far my favourite. In the fall, Dior amazed me and this season, Galliano has done it again! Absolutely stunning!
Another favourite was Chanel, Lagerfeld always knows what he is doing. I like the simple white of the collection.
Apart from these two couture heavy weights, I also liked some of the creations put down the runway by Elie Saab. (photos from style.com)

Project Runway Canada - Episode 1

It may be a little self-indulgent, but I've decided to cover Project Runway Canada every Wednesday. This week was interesting to say the least. Three people ended up going home, with two contestants having to step down for health reasons and one being eliminated. I really would have liked to see what Danio and Jaclyn could have done, especially because I thought Danio's sketch and idea seemed interesting. Camille ended up being sent home. Her dress was a bit hodge-podge-y and I didn't love it, but I'm not sure it was the worst. I think I would have kicked the one they said looked like Whilma Flinstone's bedspread. It was bad.

On the flipside, I loved Sunny as much as I thought I would. His jacket was gorgeous. The skirt wasn't great, but the jacket more than made up for it. I would have given him the win, hard I been judging. I also liked the winner, Adejoke. Her dress was very interesting and I think she seems very professional. I'm having trouble finding good photos of the looks, but here's Sunny with his jacket and Adejoke with her dress. (Photos from Project Runway Canada). There's a flash slideshow of all the looks on the website, so check it out!

Project Runway Canada

Project runway Canada is back for a second season! I'm very excited, as I tend to go into Project Runway withdrawl, which resulting in me watching the entire first season of Project Runway Australia in December. Anway, the season premiers on the 27th on Global if you're in Canada, or check it out online! I love it when Canadian designers are showcased like this! It's such a great oppurtunity. I haven't been able to see all the designer's designers yet, although some of them have audition tapes on the website where you can see a sample. I really like Sunny's work, so he's my early favourite. And I think Kim's submission video is adorable and extremely corny at the end so based on personality, I like her as well. Plus on her inspiration page, she quoted her fashionpet peeve as tights worn as pants (mine as well). Check out their inspiration pages below and the website (inspiration pages from site).

Fresh faced beauty

I love fresh, simple beauty, especially for spring. There's something wonderful about feeling free and natural with bare (or nearly bare) skin. The model as Emilio Pucci, Erin Fetherstone and Fendi all capture exactly what I'm talking about (photos by style.com).

Long Lost Photo

Sorry for the delay in posting, I've had a bit of trouble finding my inspiration with some personal stuff (mostly worrying about finding a job after graduation). Anyway, I've had a few ideas that should be showing up this week, but for now I will leave you with this photo I forgot about that I took of an outfit from a couple weeks ago. I adore that dress! And that is my teeny-tiny kitchen, complete with the bf's icecream maker in the background!

Style Picks

Today I've decided to post some of my favourite looks seen over the past few days. (photos from style.com)

First of all Agyness Deyn looks great here rocking a menswear look at the Defiance screening. I think she pulls it of wonderfully and I seriously want her cardi!

Actress Alexa Davalos was also at the Defiance screening (she played Daniel Craig's love interest) and I think she looks lovely in her simple dress. I love the unfussy way she wears it and while it could have been a boring choice, I think she pulls it off.

My final look for today is Sophia Van Haeften (I've never heard of her, so if you know about her, please fill me in) at the Stephen Sprouse book party hosted by Debbie Harry. I love her look, especially the jacket. However, I would lose the headband. I don't think it adds anything to the look.

Pretty Prints

As I was going through some of the runway shots I've collected from Spring 2009 (I have a huge number of runway photos saved), I couldn't help but be overwhelmed by my love of florals and prints as I looked at these photos of the Cynthia Steffe show. (Photos from style.com).

Back to school

On a lovely suggestion by CurlyfrySC's Collage, I've posted my outift for the first day of school. I didn't include my winter coat, scarf and gloves because I took this photo after I got home. As well, I replaced my cosy winter boots with my leopard print flats because my entryway is full of boxes, so I could take a photo there and I didn't want to track slush all through my house. So, here we are. I was a bit unwilling to trade my winter break freedom for classes, so I threw on my yellow hoodie to brighten my mood. I love the colour combination with my indigo top.

Also, I've included my favourite looks from the Golden Globes. Blake Lively, Kate Beckinsale and Kate Winslet all look beautiful. None of their dresses have too much going on, yet they are not boring either.

Uninspired

Hello everyone. It's back to class for me tomarrow and I'm lacking a little in the inspiration department. Any ideas you have for posts would be greatly appreciated.

Anyhow, for today I decided I would just post my favourite looks from the Stephen Sprouse tribute party. Agyness Deyn looks quirky and cool, as usual and the other models look great as well. From top: Maryna Linchuk, Chanel Iman, Monet Mazur and Agyness Deyn. (Photos from style.com)

Equestrian

With an equestrian backgroud, I can't help but notice that season after season, designers continue to draw inspiration from the showring. This season, the style is reflected in the jodpur style pants seen in the Nina Ricci spring 09 show.

It is also interesting, however, to go straight to the source and look at the styles common in show rings right now (runway photo from style.com, other photos from ariat.com and boinkcatalog.com).
