Top ten of Resort 2010

Here are my top ten picks from the Resort 2010 collections. To be completely honest, it almost became a top 35. There were a lot of great collections and great looks, but here are my picks from the initial 292 looks I saved.

10. Doo.Ri
I love how cute this look is. I love the combination of the belted dress and the adorable vest. Something great for a holiday.

9. Marchesa
I'm completely in love with the colour of this dress. As well, the texture on the top is just gorgeous. If I were getting married, I would want this for my bridesmaid dresses.

8. Alexander Wang
I love some many things about this dress. The straps, the pockets, the zipper, all of it. There's a hanger in my closet just waiting for this.

7. Oscar de la Renta
I am totally loving asymmetrical dresses right now and this is one of the best I've seen. I think the print is cute and I really like how it is belted.

6. Roksanda Ilincic
This is probably the least wearable of my picks, even though I would wear it in a heartbeat. I love the colour combination and the shape of the big detail.

5. 3.1 Phillip Lim
This outfit just screams cool to me. I love every single piece and wish that I saw people wearing this great of an outfit more often.

4. Christian Dior
No top ten list for me would be complete without Christian Dior. I had so much trouble trying to choose from within this collection, I love how classic and beautiful this is. John Galliano is still my hero.

3. Philosophy
I would love to wear this outfit on vacation. I love the slight nautical theme and, while it's not overpowering, it is insanely cute.

2. Moschino Cheap & Chic
This collection as a whole was probably my favourites; there were so many great looks. I love the colour and pattern of this dress and just looking at it puts me in a good mood.

1. Versace
When I saw this outfit, I almost died. It's perfect! It has just the right amount of vintage feel, while still looking fresh. I might consider trading everything in my wardrobe just for this outfit.

101st post

So my last post marked my 100th post, but I didn't mention it because I talked about so much other junk. So, I'll talk about it now. Yay Pudding and Pie, I love you and I'm sorry I have a tendency to neglect you sometimes. Good thing you're not a child. Is it weird to address a post to your blog? Oh well.

Anyway, I offered to answer what ever questions you had for me and here are the answers (don't worry, there's not too many questions):

So, where does your blog name come from?

Well, to be perfectly honest, it comes from my love of alliterations and nursery rhymes (I used to know them all and still probably remember most). When I started this blog, I thought of it as sort of a prelude to starting e-zine or magazine and I thought Pudding and Pie would be a catchy name. Things have changed since then and my blog has become much more personal, with outfit posts and some convoluted stories about my day, as well as fashion from top designers and brands, as well as up-and-comers.

Sorry it ended up having way too much information for the question!

What does the perfect night for you look like?

For this one, I would have to say a costume party. I love dressing up and I love playing games with my friends (our parties are usually more of games nights rather than raging keggers or something). So it would be throwing together an awesome costume, playing Apples to Apples, eating junk food and laughing until my face hurts.

Who is your favourite designer?

I'm afraid I'm a little unoriginal on this one, but I would have to say John Galliano. He is simply amazing. My favourite things from him are the Dior Couture. Alexander McQueen and Zac Posen are right behind him though.

What is your favourite purchase?

My all time favourite purchase actually has nothing to do with fashion (gasp). It would be my wonder horse Scarface. I love you so much Scarfie! Fashion-wise, this question had me running to my closet and surveying the contents. Besides my grad dress, which doesn't count, since my mom bought it for me, I would have to say my brown winter boots from Aldo. They are pretty and comfortable and warm and wonderful.

So that's it for my Q & A session. My clothes fro today were super casual, as all I did was laze around, clean my house and go to the grocery store. But this comfy outfit is perfect for that kind of day.

Jeans - Bluenotes
Shoes - Keds
Top - homemade
Purse - no label

Also, other exciting news! I won a giveaway from the wonderful Ayla from Pomegranate & Patchouli. I'm super excited to get my Margo Morrison pearl
earrings. Yay!

Goodie bags and free samples - oh yeah!

Sorry for disappearing again, I'm trying to make it less of a habit. My job search hasn't been going so well and I am still looking. Today I went to the Holt Renfrew career fair for when they open their new Calgary flagship store. If you're not familiar with Holt, it's a luxury department store that carries high end brands like Burberry, Prada, Chanel, Louboutin etc. and it would be an absolute dream to work there! The job fair was being held at this beautiful hotel and it was a bit intimidating because it was so darn fancy. But all of the girls/ladies who directed me where to go were super nice. I basically filled out a form, had a short interview and that was it. I was so nervous that my leg wouldn't stop shaking. Lucky for me it was blocked from the interviewer by the table! But I did get an amazing gift bag before I left! Besides being in a pretty pink bag, it came with a bottle of water 9which was very refreshing after the stress of the interview), a pencil, a credit card application, a pack of gum, a Missoni perfume sample (I haven't tried it yet) and a shaving balm sample for my bf. I wish all job interviews gave free samples!

After my interview for Holt Renfrew, I went to one of the shopping areas downtown and dropped off a couple resumes. I dropped one at BCBG Max Azria, which I absolutely love, and the girl just took it and walked away, so that's not such a good sign. I also dropped one off at Town Shoes, which I also love and already applied for at a different location. The girl I talked to there did a mini-interview right there and I think we got along really well and I felt like I made a good impression. I'm going for a group interview there on Wednesday morning. Wish me luck!

After that, I met up with one of my friends and we browsed through the shops, including a trip to Holt Renfrew, where we chatting away about finding a job and Louboutins. She was also heading to the career fair, so I walked her to the hotel, then came home. I'm really excited about trying to get a job at Town Shoes, as if you work really hard and sell lots of shoes, you can earn free ones as a reward. How great would that be?!?!

Also, coming soon, a blog post about the new Maybelline pulse perfection mascara! I got all my samples in the mail today, which was super exciting for me! I love getting mail that's not flyers.

If you managed to read all the way down to here, thanks, you are the best! Also, here are so somewhat low quality photos of my outfit for today. I wore the jacket all day because it was chilly, but I love the dress to pieces!

One more thing!! I haven't forgotten about my promise to answer any questions you might have, so please send in the questions so I have something to talk about!

Missing Camera

Sorry for the delay; I've been super busy. I was on a mini holiday at my mom and dad's and then I had convocation yesterday. I now have a fancy $20 000 piece of paper! Unfortunately, my parents forgot their camera, so they borrowed mine and it went home in my mom's purse. So that means no oufit posts (which I've been really meaning to do!) until Monday at the earliest (since the bf and I are going out to their house for the weekend).

On a different note, this stupid economy is making it really hard to find a job with my degree. Which means I'm thinking of applying for a retail job at one of my favourite shops, Aritzia. I will probably also drop resumes off at United Colors of Bennetton and Banana Republic. I might be able to get a job at the company I used to work for, but that won't be for a while, so I need something to pay my rent until then!

More resort love: Narciso Rodrigeuz

Checked out some more resort collections and fell madly in love with Narciso Rodrigeuz's Resort '10 collection. Honestly, this had been a really great bunch of resort collections so far. As far as the Rodrigeuz collection goes, I love how simple the looks were, yet stunning all the same. It makes sense for resort wear to be simple and versatile, since you can't pack everything, but you want to be able to mix and match and get the most wear out of the fewest pieces. Here are my favourite looks from the collection. (Photos from style.com). Oh, and I'm coming up to my 100th post (yay!), where I thought I would answer some of you guys' questions, so leave them in the comments or email me at puddingandpiefashion@gmail.com.

Oh Oscar

I've been looking at the newest Resort '10 collections and my new favourite is Oscar de la Renta. The looks are pretty, classy and adorable. Here are my favourite outfits from the show. My favourite of the favourites? The asymetrical belted dress. I want it so badly! So cute! What's your favourite look from Oscar de la Renta? Which resort show has been your favourite so far? Best dressed of May

So, I decided to start a new feature on my blog. On the first of each month (or thereabouts), I will post up who I felt were some of the best dressed celebrities of the previous month. So here we are, the five best dressed famous ladies of May 2009.

Abbie Cornish: I featured Abbie wearing this beautiful purple gown in my Cannes post and it resurfaces here as one of my favourite looks of the month. Her white rumpled dress is also adorable on her.

Bee Shaffer: Judging by her lineage, this girl has no excuse not to look fabulous and she does not disappoint!

Dita Von Teese: Always fashionable, I love her retro style and how personal her clothes seem.

Jessica Alba: Jessica was a bit of a surprise for me, since I don't alway love her style, but May was a very good month for her!

Rachel Bilson: Rachel is one of the most stylish girls around and has perfected look casual and gorgeous.

Honourable Mentions: Michelle Yeoh and Rihanna. (Photos from style.com and justjared.com)

Note: Apparently the earlier photo I had said was Abbie Cornish was actually not. My apologies and thanks for pointing out this error! Both photos of Abbie Cornish should now be actual photos of her! Oops!
