It may be just me, but I always feel like the week after a long weekend seems extra-long, even though it's shorter. But don't worry, I have an awesome pick-me-up in store for someone!

Best Dressed of August

Sorry the best dressed is so late, but it seemed like there were more outfits than usual to sift through. The top five are all newcomers this week, as a lot of my favourites seemed to be absent (I don't think I saw a single photo of Dita Von Teese or Emma Watson). But here were the best dressed of August 2009.

1. Taylor Swift - This one was a bit of a surprise for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Taylor Swift fan, but she seemed extra stylish this week. I love her adorable school-girl look, as well as this great purple dress!

2. Maria Sharpova - Maria looked great this month! I love the shoulders of her outfits so much!

3. Ashlee Simpson - I thought Ashlee had a good month style-wise. I love her adorable blue ensemble!

4. Renee Zellweger - While hitting the talk show circuit, Renee looked lovely. I especially love her bright blue dress.

5. Fergie - I thought both of these casual outfits from Fergie were great. While I don't love her style all the time, she sometimes hits it pretty dang good!

David Dixon for Town Shoes

A great Canadian designer, David Dixon, has done an exclusive shoe line with retailer Town Shoes. It's another designer-retailer collaboration that I enjoy because the rsults are cute and fairly affordable (~$125 for a pair of heels). Here are my picks. Check out more here. Lauren Merkin bags

I was looking through online shopping and the like when I came across Lauren Merkin and fell in love with her bags. She has some really cute bags and clutches. The bag look like they would feel amazing and many are large enough to use for back to school to haul around all of your books while still looking stylish. Here are my favourites! Gaudet Fall 09

If you, like me, live somewhere where the winters are very chilly, you know that a winter coat is of the utmost importance. But nobody wants to roam the snow-covered streets bundled up like the that puffy tire man! Living in Canada, I have three winter coats and one ski jacket, but I'm always in the market for more (I love variety!). As such, I'm totally in love with the coats from Gaudet for fall.

The design team of Gaudet consists of Norm and Gio Gaudet. They currently live in Georgia, but have a studio in Toronto, Canada and show at LG Fashion Week in Toronto. Their coats are made using felting, but have really great modern silhouettes. And the colours are gorgeous! You can check out their Fall 09 runway show here. These are my favourites.
