Artwear Part 5
Boutik also took part in the ArtWear fashion show. My favourite part of their looks was the sparkles (I know, I'm a sucker for sparkley

things)! My favourite look is the pink dress, which was a lot more vibrant in real life.

Artwear Part 4
Another boutique which took part in ArtWear was Mealan. I liked their pieces; they are very fun! I've never been to Mealan, but now I think I will have to make the trip! Plus, they have the cutest an
chor in thier logo! I really like the plaid coat, the fur scarf and the purple-y stripe-y dress.

ArtWear Part 3
Besides featuring an exclusive capsule collection by Adejoke, several local boutiques also starred in ArtWear. One of these was Azul Couture. They showed some really interesting pieces. My favourite was definately the green dress. I will be showing pictures from the other boutiques throughout the week. I hope you're enjoying my coverage of ArtWear!

Artwear Part 2
On to part two of my coverage of Artwear. Adejoke from Project Runway Canada designed a special capsule collection of her line alala just for this event. It was really exciting to see actual runway pieces debut on the runway and made me want to be a part of the fashion industry even more! I also fell in love with one of her spring/summer 2010 dresses, which Adejoke was actually wear. Plus the girl who worked at her table was superduper nice! I apologize for the weird colouring of the photos, I don't have photoshop so I don't know how to fix the colours caused by the reddish lighting. If anyone has any tips or know of a link to something that can do this for me, that would be great. I would love to improve my photography. I felt a little self-concious standing in the press area with my little point and shoot camera, but I think it did a pretty good job.

ARTWear (Part 1)
There was so much great stuff going on at ArtWear on Friday and I took so many pictures that I'm going to have to post about it parts to avoid overwhelming everyone. The event took place in the beautiful Hotel Arts, which was a really lovely venue for this kind of event.
From start to finish the event was really well planned and definately an enjoyable evening. As you walked in, they had even set up a red carpet with crazy papperatzzi guys pretending to take photos.

There was a silent auction that had some really great items that could be bought, including a Versace handbag, a couple of fur coats and this amazing dress from alala that I wanted really bad. They
were also auctioning some really cool art like this. It's entitled Three Blind Mice.

There were also some great outfits and some really creative ones like these. I love how bright the one girl's dress is and the blue pieces on the other girl's outfit.

This was the venue where the fashion show was held. They had lights that changed colour, with made waiting for the show to start more fun. Also, here were the hosts of the show and a lady
whose non-profit organization sponsered the event.
Next I will start posting up the fashions shown at the event, including an exclusive capsule collection of alala by Adejoke from Project Runway Canada (who I saw and was too scared to talk to).

A Few Happy Things
I've have a few happy things to share. First of all, I had design class last night, where is fitted our muslin shells. Mine was pretty good, except the hips of my shell were too round, my side seam needed to move back and my back darts were too close together. So a few alterations for next wekk. As well, I need to draft, cut out and attach a muslin waistband. Here is the fitted shell.

The next thing is both exciting and scary: a new sewing project. Well, it's only scary because I want to be finished it by Sunday when I have my sewing meet-up group. Yes, I leave things to the last minute... Anyway, our mettup challenge (we like to give ourselves challenges and pretend we are on Project Runway) was to find a photo that inspired us, then make something inspired by this photo. Choosing the photo was hard and I only choose the photo and design last week and am starting it now! The photo I chose was a Nine West ad from last year and I was inspired by the pretty plum colour.
I'm making this Cynthia Rowley skirt out of black and plum taffeta, so hopefully I will be able to post that up soon.
Here is where I am currently, a mess of pattern pieces and an lot of purple taffeta.
And the last thing I have to share is the most exciting and happiest of all! Pudding and Pie will be covering ARTWear 2009! ARTWear us a great fundraiser done by the Art Gallery of Calgary which supports arts in local schools. ARTWear consists of a fashion show, Fashion Trunk Show Auction, Silent Auction and musical enterainment by local band Kyemara. And Adejoke Taiwo (from Project Runway Canada, who got sent home way to early and soul have been in the finals) will be designing a line under her label alala. The folks from the Art Gallery of Calgary were kind enough to send me a ticket for the November 6th event. I will do a full post on ARTWear later this month, but if you are from Calgary or will be in the Calgary area at that time, please consider attending! It's for a great cause and sounds like a great time!
