Fancy Hats and Scaffold Skirts

I've always had a soft spot for fashion I consider avante garde. Elements you don't see everyday and would probably never wear in real life, but that are still very fashion. Two examples from the spring runways and John Galliano and Limi Feu. The hats in the Galliano show were beautiful and amazing and I want one very badly. Another avante garde show was Limi Feu. I especially liked the skirts that reminded me of some kind of scaffolding. (photos from style.com)

Best dressed of 2008

Thanks for your patience, but I've finally completed my decisions for the best dressed of 2008. It was a bit harder than I thought and I had to cut some ladies I thought were very stylish last year, but that's the nature of a top ten list I guess. Some of the ladies missing may surprise you, as may some of the ladies present (a few even surprised me! I didn't remember them being that stylish!). Anyway, here we go! (Photos from style.com and celebrity-gossip.net)

10. Kate BeckinsaleI like Kate's style, both on and off the red carpet. She always looks polished and sophisticated.

9. Michelle Trachtenberg
This is one of the girls that I was surprised to find on my top ten list. However, I must give her credit, she looks lovely in all of these photos and has great taste in skirts and dresses.

8. Chanel Iman
The first of the models that made the list, Chanel looks great off the runway, as well as on it.

7. Taylor Momsen
The only gossip girl to make the list and probably not the one you expected. I like Taylor's style, though it tends to be on the short side, I think this keeps her look youthful and keeps her from looking too old.

6. Heidi Klum
One of the most beautiful women alive, Heidi could wear a potato sac and look amazing.

5. Jessica Stam
The second model on the list, I love Jessica's off-runway style. She looks so great!

4. Rachel Bilson
Rachel looks great dressed up or dressed down. She wears demin amazingly.

3. Coco Rocha
The final model on the list, I love Coco style off the runway. She always looks so polished.

2. Emma Watson
Another surprise. When I started to really look at her outfits, I fell in love with all of them. And Karl Lagerfeld apparently called her a genius.

1. And the winner is: Kate Hudson
It seems to me that Kate can do no wrong. Even when she does make a fashion mis-step, she comes back better than ever.

Thanks everyone for checking out my list. Let me know where you agree and disagree!

Late but Great

I have to apologize. Things are taking a bit longer than I though and I'm a bit busy than I anticipated, so my best-dressed list has been postponed, but should be up sometime this weekend. instead, I spent some time today looking at the great deals on gilt.com and was sorely tempted a few times. Here are some favourites (photos from gilt.com).

...

Hey! I just got back from all of my Christmas events and had a enjoyable time at all of them. I hope everyone else had an enjoyable holiday and hopefully the new year will be wonderful as well. Speaking of the new year, I'm planning on showcasing who I consider the ten most well-dressed ladies of 2008. I'm not done conpiling photos yet, so this is more of an update than an actual post. I'm hoping the best-dressed post will be up by Thursday.

Also, if you'd like to see what stylish items I recieved for Christmas and the ones I picked out myself on Boxing Day, I will be posting photos on Cookies N Cream.

Anne Hathaway

I've been a fan of Anne Hathaway since the Princess Diaries came out. However, I haven't always been a fan of her style. However, she is in the midst of a re-invention and I think things are changing for the better. Especially if these photos from Vogue are any indication. (Photos from style.com).

Scandal House Designs

In my last post I talked about a great site called UsTrendy. Today I'm going to introduce a great designer I discovered there: Sheri from Scandal House Designs. Sheri's clothes are designed to take you from the office to the night club, meaning they are very versatile and can be styled any way you'd like. Another great thing is that Scandal House Designs is based in Canada (just like me)!

I really like these designs as they are sophisticated and polished, but by no means boring. I think they have the perfect mix of polish and edge. Check out the clothes here or purchase them online here. (Photos from scandalhousedesigns.com).
